  3. Don't be surprised if you suddenly find a wet
  4. nose pressed up against your hand when you
  5. visit Kofukuji temple.  With 1500 deer roaming
  6. freely through the temple grounds, it's hard to
  7. avoid them, especially around lunchtime when
  8. they start nuzzling into your pockets, looking
  9. for food.
  10. The beautiful five-storey pagoda on the grounds
  11. is the second highest in Japan, standing at 50 m
  12. (164 ft.).  The smaller three-storey pagoda was
  13. built in 1143.
